JAMMU, Mar 4: The people of village Porasti Badui and adjoining areas held strong protest at Akhnoor town against police, demanding recovery of the kidnapped girl and arrest of the accused persons today.
The villagers assembled at Nirdosh Chowk after taking out a protest rally in the Akhnoor town during the day today and held strong protest demonstration. They were raising loud slogans against Akhnoor police and local administration as they failed to trace the girl even after 65 days.
With protest and dharna at main chowk the movement of traffic remained disrupted for about three hours. They were demanding that a SIT be framed to trace the girl and arrest the accused person/ persons.
A protester said that 65 days ago, at village Porasti Badui, a girl student was kidnapped by a youth of a `particular community’. Today in the presence of DDC, Sarpanch, Panchs and villagers gathered near Kameshwar temple of Akhnoor town. The people started protest march by raising slogans against the police after not getting a concrete assurance from the police for the recovery of minor girl student who was kidnapped on December 27, 2024.
The rally passed through various markets of the town of Akhnoor. A large number of women were also accompanying the rally. Under the banner of Sarv Hindu Samaj, the protesters staged a dharna at Nirdosh Chowk and blocked the traffic. A massive jam was created on the road.
After a long discussion led by Jammu Rural SP Brijesh Sharma and Tehsildar Naresh Kumar, the administration and police assured the protesters of recovery of the girl and arrest of the culprit within a week’s time, and the protesters ended their dharna.
SP Rural claimed that the investigation into the kidnapping of the girl is going on. The girl will be recovered and the culprit arrested before one week.
