People protest at Kathua, Hiranagar

KATHUA, Feb 29: The irate residents of Kathua and Hiranagar held protest demonstrations against the scarcity of ration at ration depots and accused the Government of implementing the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State without applying proper mind to it.
At Kathua the protest was held in front of DC Office which was led by senior BJP leader Gopal Mahajan. Later the delegation met the ACR Kathua and apprised him of the problems of the people which have arisen due to the implementation of NFSA in the State.
It said that the new ration cards for distribution of ration under NFSA are not available and instead of flour, wheat is being provided to the consumers, which is not acceptable to them.
Another protest was held in front of SDM Office Hiranagar by the people against the scarcity of ration at ration ghats after the implementation of NFSA in the State. Later the delegation called on SDM Hira Nagar and apprised him of the problems.
