KATHUA, Dec 20: The residents of Barnoti and Tarara raised a strong protest against the scarcity of drinking water.
The irate residents, including the women in large numbers came on National Highway at Barnoti and blocked a tube on Highway. They were raising the slogans against PHE Department and criticised the Department for its failure in maintain the regular water supply to thick population of Tarara and Barnoti.
The women said that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water since last few months. Despite the repeated approach to PHE Department, they are continuously facing the problems and are forced to purchase water from private tankers.
After getting the information, a team of police and PHE Department reached on spot and tried to pacify them. After the assurance by Department, the protestors dispersed after half an hour and traffic was restored on busy highway.
