MENDHAR, Nov 27: The villagers from Salwah and Bera Kund area of Mendhar held protest demonstration and blocked road for about two hours today.
The villagers from the area came out on the road at around 9 am and started protest at Bera Kund. They were raising slogans against ARTO concerned and R&B authorities Poonch. The villagers alleged that condition of Mendhar- Salwah road was in bad condition. The black top surface had broken and authorities did not bother to initiate repair work since long.
They further alleged that Tata Sumo operators were overcharging from the passengers on this route. There was no fix rate and ARTO officials never bothered to fix the route and punish the erring operators. Moreover, the operators do not lift the students on this route. Later, a Police officer reached the spot and he assured action in this regard. Public then lifted dharna at around 11 am.
