JAMMU/SRINAGAR, May 21: Hundreds of people drawn from different walks of life today paid glowing tributes to Rahul Bhat who was martyred by terrorists in his office at Chadoora, Budgam last week on his tenth day at Muthi Ghat here ,today.
The mourners gathered at Muthi Ghat and after performing religious rituals staged a strong protest demanding justice to the family of martyr. Taking banners and photograph of Rahul Bhat in their hands they also showed grave concern over the failure of the administration in arresting the terrorists responsible for this gruesome act.
The protestors reiterated their demand that PM package employees be shifted to safer places outside the Valley till total normalcy returns in Kashmir. They also demanded a suitable job for the wife of Rahul Bhat and enhancement of ex-gratia relief saying that the Class-IV post was an insult to the martyr.

The president Jammu Statehood, Sunil Dimple also took part in the protest and assured full support to the demand of displaced Pandits. He said the package employees be shifted to Jammu as situation is not conducive in Valley for their service. He expressed serious concern over the increasing militancy incidents in Kashmir and demanded a suitable job for the wife of Rahul Bhat with increasing the ex-gratia to Rs 20 lakh.
Meanwhile, KP Sabha chief, K K Khosa expressed his concern that thought ten days have passed the killers of Rahul Bhat are still at large. He said this has been a cause of concern for the entire community of displaced Pandits who are the worst victims of terrorism.
Khosa urged the Government to settle the genuine demands of package employees so that their confidence is restored in the administrative set up. He said it is pity that majority of these employees have not been provided Government jobs and they are living in rented accommodations where they have no security of their life in prevailing situation.
Homage was also paid to Rahul at Delhi by KPs. Panun Kashmir senior leader Ramesh Manwati urged the Government of India to recognise that the Hindus of Kashmir have suffered genocide.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Correspondent adds: The Kashmiri Pandit employees continued their protest for the 10th straight day today demanding immediate relocation to safer places.
The protesting employees took out a protest rally from Rajbagh to Lal Chowk where they staged a protest, holding placards and raising slogans.
From Lal Chowk, the protesting employees marched back to Rajbagh near Jogger’s Park and the rally culminated there. The protestors on the way back to Rajbagh stopped near the BJP office and raised slogans against BJP Government and Administration for their failure in addressing their issues.
The KP employees said that they do not feel safe in Kashmir anywhere and that they should be relocated to safer places. “Target killings are going on and we are not feeling secure; we urge the administration to just relocate us without any delay,” said one of the protestors who identified herself as Karuna.
The protestors said that they are not bonded labourers and that the administration needs to wake up to listen and address their demands. “Whenever we talk to the administration, they tell us that we have signed a bond, are we then bonded labourers, to live here to be killed,” the protestors said.
The KP employees said that if the Government is not ready to relocate them, then they will better prefer to resign rather than die in Kashmir.
