REASI, July 15: Demanding reduction in rates of mining minerals, locals held a protest dharna in front of Mini Secretariat, here today.
Led by local Sarpanchs and Panchs, the protesting people raised slogans against the District Mining Officer (DMO) and the district administration. They were demanding rationalization of prices with other districts where the rates of mining mineral are comparatively low.
They also demanded that free mining material should be given to BPL ration card holders and rate list should be displayed at mining sites. The protest dharna continued for more than five hours, during which DDC members from Arnas and Reasi also joined the protesting people.
The dharna was lifted only after ADC Reasi along with Tehsildar Reasi reached the protest site and pacified the people by assuring necessary action at the earliest.
