People protest hike in school fee, block road

RAJOURI, Jan 8: The people including large number of parents of the students blocked Jammu-Rajouri road at Salani bridge and disrupted movement of traffic for over an hour today.
They were protesting against the exhorbitant fee hike imposed by a local private Higher Secondary School from January 2015 and alleged torturing of students. The parents of the students from local Purnima Higher Secondary School assisted by many locals of the town, today came out on the road after the school administration refused to withdraw its decision of fee hike. The parents alleged that many students were being harassed for non-payment of hiked annual fee.
The people blocked road near Salani bridge and started protest against the school management. Later, SHO Rajouri Yash Pal Jamwal and CEO Rajouri Hamid Choudhary reached the spot. They assured the people to take up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner and action against management. Then the people along with CEO moved to the office of DC Rajouri. With the intervention of DC, a three members committee was constituted to look into the matter and submit report. The DC also summoned the Principal of the School during the meeting.
The team headed by Additional DC Virji Hangloo, AC Revenue and CEO Rajouri was asked submit the inquiry report within a week. The school management was asked to roll back its decision, till the outcome of a writ petition pending in the High Court on the issue.
