People protest over dilapidated condition of road

DODA, Apr 3: The residents of tehsil Chiralla held protest against Public Works Department (R&B) over dilapidated condition of the road.
A large number of residents assembled near High School Poneja and raised slogans against PWD (R&B) for its failure to repair the badly damaged road.
The protestors said that thousands of people resides in Tehsil Chiralla and are still living in medieval condition due to worst condition of road connecting Chiralla.
They flayed the concerned department for its failure to repair around 18 Km from Suiguwari to Sewa.
“The Chiralla road lies in a dilapidated condition from past so many years, due to which people face many difficulties. We appealed to the concerned authorities to repair the road, but till date nothing has been done, which forced us to come on road and held protest”, said Romesh Kumar, Ex-Sarpanch Bhalara.
“During rains, it becomes difficult for the people especially pedestrians to move on this road. The road is having pit holes and needs immediate repair”, said Somi Raj Bhagat, Ex-Sarpanch Panchayat Poneja.
He stated that the foundation stone of the Chiralla was laid by former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on October 16 1982 and since then, the road has not been macadamized.
If the authorities failed to repair the Chiralla road, the people will protest in aggressive manner and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible, the protestors warned.
