People protest over getting inflated electricity bills

ANANTNAG, Feb 12: Residents of Nowgamnaad and Saaskhudan today staged a protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) for dispatching them inflated electricity bills.
The residents told that they used to receive monthly electricity bill of about Rs 100 to 120 but from last four months the PDD start sending inflated bills upto Rs 500 to them while they are consuming very less electricity.

Raising slogans against PDD, the residents said only one 25 KV power transformer is installed in village which is under capacity to meet their electricity need. “We get only electricity only 4-5 hours a day but despite that the PDD officials are sending them inflated bills,” they added.
Locals said that they had approached the PDD Sub Division Dooru some days back but despite assurance nothing was done by the PDD officers. They appealed DC Anantnag to intervene into the matter and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
