BHADERWAH, Mar 25: Alleging poor medical services in Public Health Centre (PHC) Bhalla, hundreds of people today blocked the Doda-Bhaderwah road and raised slogans against the Health Department for its lethargic approach to made doctors and allied staff available at PHC.
Hundreds of people including attendants of the patients from Bhalla and adjoining areas assembled at PHC Bhalla and held protest. The protestors raised slogans in favour of their demands including full-fledged functioning of PHC Bhalla. Due to protest, the vehicular movement on the highway came to standstill.
Addressing the gathering Talib Wani, Sarpanch Derka alleged that the Health Department is least bothered about the lives of the poor people residing in Bhalla and adjoining areas.
“No doctor is available in PHC, whenever anybody falls ill, we  have to take him either to SDH Bhaderwah or to District Hospital Doda”, he added.
The protestors served one week ultimatum to the Health Department for improving the functioning of PHC Bhalla otherwise they will intensify their protest and for any untoward incident, the department and the Government will be responsible.
On getting information, senior police officers and Naib Tehsildar Bhalla Duni Chand rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators, assuring them that the matter will be taken up with higher authorities for early redressal.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored.
