DODA, Dec 25: The residents of block Changa in Sub Division Gandoh held protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) and Coalition Government.
The protest was led by Senior Congress leader and former Power Minister Mohammad Sharief Naaz. Amid slogans, the residents blocked the Doda-Gandoh road for around one hour near bus stand Banna and staged sit in protest.
Naaz expressed strong resentment over the worsening power scenario in Changa block of district Doda. He said that the several areas of Changa and whole Bhaderwah constituency have been forced to reel under darkness as the transformers installed in these areas got damaged and are lying in the workshops for repairs since more than a month.
He stated that people residing in many villages are without electricity during the prevailing harsh weather conditions.
The protesters said that children appearing in their annual examination are the worst sufferers as they are unable to prepare for the exams in the absence of power.
Congress leader Bhallesa Fayaz Batt, Om Parkash Parhiar, Mohammad Abass Rather and many others also expressed their resentment against the PDD and warned to intensify their protest, if power supply is not restored.
