UDHAMPUR, July 25: Up in arms against virtually no power and drinking water supply in the area for last one month, locals and students of Sui Sambal village today held a protest demonstration and blocked the Dhar road near Slathia Chowk.
The villagers were protesting against Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD). They raised slogans against the Government and blocked the ever busy Dhar road resulting into vehicular jam for more than half an hour.
The protesting villagers said that there was no regular supply of drinking water while heavy curtailment of power was a routine affair. Despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities, no action was initiated, they lamented.
As the protesters refused to disperse off, District official and SHO, Udhampur Sanjeev Gupta rushed to the spot and pacified the protesting people by assuring them to take up the issue with the concerned authorities. On their assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
