KISHTWAR, Dec 28: The members of the civil society held protest under the banner of Public Awareness Front (PAF), here today.
Lamenting large number of people raised slogans against the Government and also to highlight and their problems.
While addressing the gathering, PAF President Shakir Siddiqui laid stress on the burning issues including deteriorating condition of Batote-Kishtwar National Highway, unscheduled power cuts in the entire Chenab Valley in general and Kishtwar in particular instead of Dul-Hasti and Bhagliar Hydroelectric Projects and opening of all pending power projects in order to generate the employment for educated youths.
He said that the scarcity of drinking water mostly in Kishtwar has become epidemic and unresolved issue, adding that the people are facing problems due to shortage of specialized doctors in the hospitals of entire Chenab valley especially Kishtwar.
He demanded restoration of the regular supply of drinking water and appointment of doctors in the hospitals across Chenab Valley.
He said that there is deficiency and inadequate supply of ration to consumers and demanded setting up of separate Tourism Develo-pment Authority for whole Chenab Valley in order to speed up the development of the region.
