MENDHAR, Aug 3: The people today held protest at Galuta in Harni area against police as it failed to arrest accused for attack on his own daughter-in-law with an axe.
The relatives of the woman, supported by locals of the area came out on the road and started protest at 8 AM today. They raised barricades on Mendhar-Surankote road at Galuta near Harni and disrupted movement of traffic for two hours. The people alleged that Zahida Kouser, wife of Javed Iqbal of Galuta was attacked by her father-in-law with an axe, yesterday. She was rushed to hospital with deep wound. Harni police detained her father-in-law for some time but released later. They raised slogans against police and demanded action against the accused for murderous assault on woman.
SDPO, Mendhar Shahid Nahim claimed that accused has been arrested and a case stands registered against him. He said that he also visited site and assured the people about action.
