People resent hike in fares

SAMBA, June 23: There is lot of resentment and anger among the people of all classes in Samba district over 30% increase in passenger fares by the UT Government in J&K.
People, while reacting over the Government decision said that this is not justified at all to increase the fares by 30%. It seems Government is not bothered for the common masses who are already under the pressure of increasing prices and have become idle due to COVID crisis.
They said that some people are so poor that they do can’t afford the increased bus and matador fare hence there is a lot of anger and resentment among the masses.
The Duggar Manch president Mohan Singh, PDP’s Samba district head Dr Haramesh Singh Salathia, Senior Congress leader Rajan Sharma, dignitaries of the area said that the poor are being crushed in Jammu and Kashmir by imposing taxes as if someone raises voice he is being harassed by the Government. The conspiracy is that the poor should be taxed so that they will die under the burden of taxes, they added.
They have demanded that the decision be revoked immediately. “If Government failed to revoke the same the people will be forced to come to streets’’, the added.
They said on the one hand, the Corona epidemic has added the miseries of the people and on the other hand the Government is taxing the people by imposing electricity, water, Toll Tax, etc., The poor are being harassed and crushed this way, they added.
