People should be with Govt in combating COVID: GEJAF

JAMMU, May 11: The leaders of Government Employees Joint Action Forum (GEJAF) Suresh Sharma, Sushil Sudan, Subhash Verma and Nazir Ahmad Bhat have appealed all employees whether they are on active COVID duty or not to become the volunteer messengers of the Government and help in implementing the SOPs announced by it.
In a joint statement issued here, today they said the second wave of Corona Virus has badly hit JKUT like other parts of India and daily positive cases and death toll is alarming. It is high time that every citizen should rise to the occasion as only Government cannot be held responsible for containment of this havoc. They complimented LG for re-employment of doctors on contractual basis and said by this way young doctors will get boost with their expertise and will also increase manpower in hospitals. Steps like incentives to health workers are worth praise and appealed the Government that these incentives should also be extended to all employees on COVID duty and Safai Karmcharies, they added.
They said restricting attendance in offices, augmenting oxygen availability in hospitals and inclusion of more private hospitals and raising infrastructure by personal interference by LG will dispel chaos and confusion prevailing in the society. Human approach by taking decisions to provide family pension to only bread earner’s dependents of COVID casualty, monthly assistance to construction workers are big steps. They appealed pay for the employees of NHM, Anganwadi and others workers immediately. They extended sympathies to the families of scores of COVID casualties of Government employees and others.
They pledged to extend full cooperation and support to Government in order to contain spread of this pandemic.
