RAJOURI, Feb 6: A strong protest was held today by the local residents of Thannamandi and Mangota area at Shahdra Chowk as a road from Thannamandi to Jaba Mangota is under construction and a local villager is not allowing department to work on the said road.
The protesting people alleged that the length of the road road is 3.5 km and at the starting point, a local resident has encroached upon State land and he is not allowing the machinery of RDD/ REW to work. The road will provide connectivity to W No 10, 11, 12 & 13 of MC, besides village Mangota and Dhoke. The villagers are suffering a lot due to non- availability of road in the area since long, they added.
The protest was led by Haji Abdul Hamid, Councillor W No. 13 Thannamandi and he told that due to the ugly act of one person, a large number of population is suffering. He demanded that Revenue authorities should demarcate the land and get it vacated from the illegal possession of that person so that the same can be used for providing road connectivity to the public.
Tehsildar Thannamandi, Sahil Ali Shah and SHO Thannamandi Inspector Shoket Hussain reached the spot and Tehsildar assured the protesting people that land demarcation will be held and if it will be state land it will be provided for road construction. He constituted seven member committee headed by Naib Tehsildar Thannamandi, Qamar Din for the demarcation of said land, which will submit report within two days.
