POONCH, May 31: The villagers from Allapir area of Mandi held protest demonstration and blocked road for about an hour today.
The villagers of the area today came out on the road and raised barricades during the mid day. They started protest demonstration against the local PDD authorities for their failure to restore power and improve infrastructure which has caused damage to their electronic gadgets during wind storm on Sunday evening.
The villagers said that during wind storm, several loose tied cables on poles and even trees got connected and they caused sparking and one transformer installed near some houses also caught fire. Due to this some TVs/ refrigerators and other electronic gadgets of the people also got damaged. They said that they rang up concerned field staff but no body arrived there and the villagers by risking their lives separates the cables.
The villagers demanded that PDD should provide compensation for the damaged TVs and other electronic appliances and action should be taken against the field staff concerned for the negligence. Later, SHO Mandi and Tehsildar reached there and they assured the people that action under law would be taken against the staff responsible for it. They also assured that power supply to the area will be restored shortly.
