POONCH, Oct 31: The villagers from Dhar Galoon area in Balakote today held protest demonstration against PHE authorities and disrupted movement of traffic for more than two hours.
Reports said the villagers came out on Mendhar-Jammu Road and raised barricades at Dhar Galoon. They sat on dharna on the road raising loud slogans against the local PHE authorities for their failure to restore water supply. They alleged that water pipes are broken, local pumping station is also out of order and the villagers have been facing lot of problems due to non-supply of water. Even the water tanker supply is not being ensured to them. They said the matter was brought to the notice of field staff including JE concern but the water supply has not been restored.
Later , Tehsildar and SHO Gursai reached the spot and they pacified the protesting people. On their assurance, the people lifted dharna and allowed movement of traffic on the road at around 11 AM.
