JAMMU, Apr 7: Scores of people today gathered at Resham Ghar Colony area of Jammu District and took out a candle light march to pay their last respect to Probationer Sub-Inspector (PSI) Deepak Sharma, who died in an encounter with the gangsters in Kathua District recently.
Those participating in the march praised PSI Deepak Sharma for his bravery and the spirit to fight the gangsters involved in drug peddling and hoped that similar approach would be adopted by other police officers to fight the rising menace of drugs in the society.
One of the protesters said, “we, the residents of Resham Ghar Colony, are taking out this march to pay our heartfelt respect to a brave son of soil who sacrificed his life fighting the drug peddlers and gangsters.”
Another protester said: “our candle light march is to express solidarity with the family members of brave police officer who laid down his life while fighting the anti-social elements.”
“Our protest is also a reminder to the corrupt police officers who are working hand-in-gloves with the drug peddlers to start doing their duties seriously to serve the society at large,” he said.
He warned that the people of Resham Ghar Colony, a drug hotspot already, will continue to speak against such officers if they don’t act against the drug peddlers.
