UDHAMPUR, July 5: The villagers from Panchari area took out a candle-march to seek justice for Karan Singh Katoch from Upper Meer who died on June 27, 2022.
The family members and locals also demanded to terminate dis-engage Mulkh Raj, SPO who is presently posted at Police Chowki Moungri.
They family alleged that Karan Singh was the murderer. The protesters also carried banners and placards demanding justice for the deceased. The people taking part in candle march demanded capital punishment for the killers of Karan Singh Katoch.
The locals appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha demanding action against the culprits. People have warned that if strict action is not taken against the culprits, the protests will be more aggressive.
Last Monday late evening the body of Karan Singh (20), son of Khajoor Singh, resident of Panchari was found hanging from a tree near Panchari in a forest area under mysterious circumstances. Next morning family and locals of the area held protest, alleging that boy was murdered. Khajoor Singh, father of the deceased alleged that yesterday morning SPO Mulkh Raj and his wife came to their house and threatened to kill their son after that boy was found hanging.
Anwar-Ul-Haq, Addl SP Udhampur assured that the investigation in the case will be done sincerely. Protesters said till now no result has come out. They demanded high level enquiry and punishment for the killers of the Karan Singh Katoch.
