People under huge stress due to lack of Jhula bridge: Ex-MLA

Excelsior Correspondent
RAMBAN, Oct 3: Former MLA from Ramban and a senior Congress leader Ashok Kumar today paid a visit to the old steel Jhula bridge over river Chenab connecting twin towns of Maitra and Ramban where the de-paunch work of Jhula bridge is in the progress.
The former MLA urged upon the Lieutenant Government to direct the concerned authorities to swiftly complete the process of de-launch and early restore the steel bridge as the local people of the entire Ramban district are suffering badly due to lack of accessibility between Ramban and Maitra.
Ashok said that patients across the district headquarters are facing hardships in reaching District Hospital, Ramban. The traffic congestion due to heavy land slides on the other side at NH-44 makes almost impossible for the people residing across the river Chenab to reach at opposite side. It is a great injustice for the people of hilly Ramban district.
Ex-MLA further said that the traders/businessman and employees of both Ramban and Maitra are the second most sufferers due to lack of connectivity the customers are unable to reach at their shops and offices. Ashok has urged the LG Government to immediately de-launch bridge or make at least footpath bridge or other swift arrangements as the festivals of Dussehra and Eid are ahead.
