JAMMU, Dec 23: A meeting of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Amphalla, held today under the Presidentship of KK Khosa to discuss the DDC elections and its implication for future of Jammu and Kashmir as a whole.
In the meeting, the Kashmiri Pandit Sabha members said that DDC election results have clearly shown that the people of J&K have voted heavily in favour of the development agenda of PM Narendra Modi and also in favour of the constitutional amendments that were made on the 5th of August 2019.
“The preposterous claims by the Gupkar alliance leadership that people have spoken in favour of reversal of the abrogation of art 35A and 370 are totally baseless as out of 280 DDC seats only 101of their candidates have been elected. The rest of the DDC members have been elected only on the development agenda”, they added.
“Even after forging an alliance to oppose the constitutional amendments which the majority of the people of J&K have welcomed, their dismal performance should be an eye opener for them. If there’s any political wisdom left in the top leadership of this conglomerate of political parties having varied ideologies they must throw their weight behind the constitutional amendments that have been made and strive for complete integration with the national mainstream to bring about lasting benefits for the people of J&K. This will also ensure return of peace and harmony in the strife torn valley which has eluded it for the past few decades”, the members stated.
KK Khosa appealed the Lt Governor and the GOI to give serious thought to initiate a dialogue process with the displaced Kashmiri Pandits to formulate a viable return policy whereby the community is able to return and get resettled in Kashmir with dignity honor and a complete sense of security.
He requested that the amount of monthly relief payable to the registered migrants be increased substantially from the present Rs 13,000 so that the displaced community members are able to make ends meet especially due to increased cost of living in these COVID-19 times.
Those who participated in the meeting were AK Braroo, Ashwani Koul, SL Bhagati, GJ Kampasi, BL Tiku, Subash Dhar, Dr Usha Tickoo, Dr Sujata Sathoo, JL Zutshi, Kewal Sher, Vinod Bhat and BL Rawal.
