DODA, Nov 21: Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani has said that people of Chenab region will reject the people polarizing society for the sake of vote bank.
Addressing public meetings at Mangota, Paryote, Khellani and Bagherni in Doda constituency, Mr Wani said that both NC and BJP leaders, were playing dangerous game to polarise civil society on the basis of caste and religion. Such people are trying to disturb peace not only in Doda but in the entire Chenab region. He said the people from both Hindu and Muslim communities have been living together since centuries and always maintained communal harmony and a secular era in this region. It is unfortunate that for the sake of vote bank now some people are playing dirty game to exploit sentiments of people.
The BJP and National Conference party leaders need to have serious thought whether polarising Hindu -Muslim voters shall strengthen or weaken the foundations of this constituency and the State as a whole? Mr Wani further said that BJP Government at Centre has not taken any concrete measures to alleviate poverty in the country. The BJP Government, at Centre, has reversed the pro-poor policy adopted by the UPA Government to control the prices of drugs used in the treatment of diabetes, cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, asthma, cardiovascular diseases and other life threatening diseases. The BJP Government reversed this decision only to kneel down to the pressure of multi-national pharmaceutical giants, US administration and domestic drug manufacturers. This clearly speaks about double standards adopted by BJP.
Wani said the UPA-Ist and UPA-IInd, under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, had taken revolutionary measures like Bharat Nirman, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, MGNRAGA, NRHM, RTI, Right to Food, Right to Work, Right to Education etc. and taken care of interest of each and every section of the society, especially the J&K State which is now on the path of peace and progress.
The people of Doda constituency have witnessed a revolution during last one decade with opening of a Medical College, Trauma hospital, new District hospital building, sports stadium and degree college. A number of new higher secondary schools and hundreds of new primary schools were opened during this period. With commissioning of a number of major water supply schemes, people getting safe & hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened even in far flung areas.
