People’s cooperation imperative for development: Bhalla

JAMMU, Dec 11: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, on Tuesday convened a public grievances camp at Upper Lower Gaddigarh and launched Rs. 15 lakh development works including upgradation of Upper Gaddigarh-Azad Nagar link road besides lanes and drains in the area.
The Minister, while addressing a large gathering, appealed the people to extend complete cooperation to the Government agencies for smooth and speedy execution of development projects being done under different schemes. “People’s cooperation is a vital component in effective implementation of development projects”, he maintained. He asked the executing agency to complete all the projects within stipulated time frame, adding that people of the area have faced lot of hardships due to Kaccha link road and lack of proper lanes and drains.
Bhalla said that Government is completely abreast with the problems of Azad Nagar’s people and is making all out efforts to mitigate the same in a phased manner. He asked the officers to personally monitor the quality of works.
The Minister said that a comprehensive plan has been formulated for upgradation and expansion of Jammu Airport to provide all infrastructural facilities to the passengers. He assured that the Government would take every step for proper rehabilitation of those whose land has been acquired for the expansion project, which include car parking, widening of road, extension of runway, construction of terminal building and residential complex of airport employees and security personnel.
Bhalla said that unprecedented development has been witnessed across the State under PHE, ERA, PDD, R&B, health, Irrigation, flood control and education sectors. He said many new projects were in pipeline to upgrade the living standards of the people. He asked the executing agencies to make optimum use of funds and complete the projects in a time bound manner. He urged the people to personally monitor the developmental works being executed in their respective areas.
Earlier, the Minister visited Nanak Nagar Sector-7 and kick started macademisation work of link road and internal links, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 4.50 lakh.
Later, Bhalla convened a meeting of I&FC and R&B officers at Civil Secretariat which was attended by Chief Engineer R&B Tehseen Mustafa, Chief Engineer I&FC K K Gupta, Executive Engineer D K Rampaul besides other senior officers.
The Minister said Government is planning to construct alternate road on the left side of Ranbir canal from Jeevan Nagar to Maralian village so that regular and jam-free traffic road could be provided to the people. He asked I&FC and R&B officers to jointly visit the area and demarcate the land so that the project could be started after completing all codal formalities.
