SRINAGAR, Jan 24: In order to ensure availability of essential commodities to people and also for timely completion of ongoing projects in district Srinagar, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar today impressed upon the officers to leave no stone unturned in extending their honest and sincere attitude for successful implementation of developmental schemes aimed at providing basic facilities to the people.
The meeting was attended by MLA Zadibal, Peer Afaq, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director CA&PD, Kashmir, Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Engineers of Electric Maintenance, Chief Engineer R&B, Joint Director Planning, Srinagar and other officers.
The Minister asserted that the present Government engaged in balanced development of the three regions of the State has massive planning to usher in a phase of prosperity and ameliorating the lot of weaker sections of the society.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner gave a resume of activities of district administration in bringing back life on rails after heavy snowfall for restoring the damaged system of drinking water and power. He also apprised the meeting about the stock supply position of essential commodities and other necessities like LPG and K. oil.
The Deputy Commissioner said that against Annual Plan of Rs 61.63 crore for district Srinagar, 60 percent funds have been spent on execution of various developmental projects. He said work on community hall and other work in Zadibal Constituency apace and efforts are being made to ensure timely completion of these projects to facilitate people. Similarly, the construction work on shrine of Hazrat Dastigeer Sahib in Khanyar is under execution at a cost of Rs. 9 crore.
The Minister also took stock of other development projects including Naagar Nagari Project, Ziarat Naqashband Sahib, Khankhai Moula. He said that an auditorium is being set up in the memory of martyrs of 1931 near Ziarat Naqashband Sahib, adding that community hall will also be an added facility at the site.
The Minister directed the officers of PDD, R&B and SMC to remove all the bottlenecks in expansion programmes of Srinagar city roads so that improvement in traffic system is assured.
