JAMMU, May 1: A one day peace conference was held at the venue “Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust” under the banner of “Bangladesh-Bharat-Pakistan People’s Forum” as also “Peace & Solidarity in J&K State”. The conference was chaired by Debabarata Biswas -Ex-MP from West Bengal.
Expressing the need for a meaningful and conclusive dialogue with all the stake holders to the vexed problem of Kashmir issue, various speakers merged up on the State and Central Govt. to adopt a humane face to the day to day protests in nook and corner of the Valley and engage all stake holders, including Pakistan, to talks to sort out a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem so that the blood of innocent people and also the security forces is not pawed in the earth for no fault on their part.
Addressing the audience, the chairman, Bangladesh-Bharat-Pakistan People’s Forum (BBPPF) Debabarata Biswas said that it is a failure of Central Government which could not solve the problem for last 70 years to the aspiration of people of the State. He said that it is a State of “broken promises” with the State Subjects that has brought the situation to such a gloomy and horrified point and added that sanctioning of financial packages will not do here and instead a political solution has to be sought at cross the table, he said.
Sheikh Ab. Rehman, Ex. MP, vice president (BBPPF) Indian Chapter, in his address said that the obstinate attitude of Central Government not to talk to Pakistan, unless it stops terrorism, has aggravated the situation between the two nuclear countries and Kashmir has become flash point to the great concern of every peace loving citizen. He urged upon the Central Government. to engage all Stake holders including Pakistan to meaningful peace talks for a amicable solution of the vexed problems.
Dr. Sunilam, Ex-MLA (Madhya Pradesh) & National Convener (BBPPF) said that a sort of fear psychosis prevails up on the minds of people in the Valley and demanded immediate dialogue process to be set in motion.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion and demanded dialogue to the State include I.D. Khajuria, Masud Ahmed Choudhary (Rtd. IPS), Prof. Zahur-Ud-Din Amjad Ali Khan from Kashmir, Dr. Prof. Hashim, Raghubir Singh, Jia Lal, Madam Santosh Khajuria, Sardarni Vidya Kour, Ram Singh Chauhan, Advocate J.A. Qazmi, Sheikh Ab. Hamid Banihali.
In a resolution passed in the conference resolved to hold such seminars / conferences at all State Capitals in the country to aware the people about the failure of State and Central Governments in solving the problem for last 70 years.
