People’s participation imperative for effective development: Bhalla

JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today said that Government is committed to provide all basic amenities in periphery pockets of urban centres for which several schemes have already been launched by it.
While kick starting the construction work of lanes and drains at Channi Himmat today, Bhalla said that Government is committed to improve the living standard of the people by creating necessary infrastructure. He asked the executing agency to complete the works within prescribed time frame and use quality material.
Mr Bhalla asserted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive development in all spheres during last five year period and several concrete measures have been taken to create durable assets and improve living standard of the people.
The Minister issued instructions to Managing Director J&K Housing Board to immediately complete upgradation work of lanes and drains, approach road, and lighting in the colony for which Rs. 55 lakh has been sanctioned.
Bhalla desired that the pace of progress on maintenance of the colony be expedited.
