People’s participation imperative for JK’s progress, prosperity: Kohli

RAJOURI: Underscoring the importance of people’s participation for peace, progress and prosperity of J&K, Minister for Animal sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli, today said that development of a society will be a distant dream if its people do not get involved in the process.

Elaborating on achievements of present dispensation, the Minister said that numerous reformative measures have been initiated envisaging the welfare and development of people of the state. “Emphasis is being laid on enhancing the basic services in areas which were deprived in the past due to one pretext or the other”, he asserted.

The Minister was addressing a gathering during a public grievances redressal camp at Kalyar Moghla in Kalakote constituency.

The locals informed the Minister about various issues confronting their respective areas like shortage of water and power supply, strengthening of interior link roads, early sanction and release of old age and widow pensions, special recruitment camps for unemployed youths etc.

While responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister said that all issues projected by them shall be taken up with the concerned officers for an early redressal.

The Minister asked accompanying officers of various departments to ensure frequent visits to their respective areas to have exact appraisal of their needs and requirements. He also asked them to work in a planned and organized manner so that vital development projects are completed in a time bound manner.

The Minister asked the people to play a participatory  role for ensuring equitable development  of the area besides providing feedback about the status of implementation of projects.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kalakote, Khalid Majeed, Assistant Director Fisheries M S Wani, officials of PDD, PHE besides sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
