Sir,
Please refer to the letter titled”Appreciation of meritorious students “published in Daily Excelsior a few days back through which the author has appreciated the performance of Government school students finding their names in merit list.Yes,it true that appreciation is a tool of motivation for the students. But I don’t agree that the concerned teachers should be appreciated so that they are also motivated to work with more motivation.
Hard work and honesty need no appreciation. It the duty of all teachers to teach with the best possible methods and techniques. The results will be the self appreciation of the good teachers. The main objective of teaching is not to get a letter of appreciation, but to develop knowledge and confidence in the students. The students being the ultimate product of a teacher, is the reflection of appreciation for the concerned teacher. So, the teachers should not worry for a letter of appreciation.
We can not compare the government school teachers with private school teachers. The Government school teachers are placed many times better than the private school teachers. Beside having job security, the government school teachers are paid at least six times more than the private school teachers. No doubt, the government school teachers are highly qualified in terms of degrees, yet mere holding degrees is not a Certificate of good teaching.Today, most of the teachers are highly qualified, but there are some schools showing very poor performance.
It is also true that there are the teachers who leave no stone unturned in teaching.I can never forget my own teachers who were not even graduates, but were masters in their profession. There can be no substitute for the government schools provided the teachers are honest and dedicated.
Yours etc….
