POONCH, Nov 20: Assistant Regional Transport Officer Poonch has suspended permit of one vehicle for three months, for overloading and having involved in accidents, while fined eight vehicles plying without speed limited devices in Poonch area.
Official sources said that on the directions of Transport Commissioner, Rahul Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Motor Vehicle department team Poonch led by ARTO Poonch Basharat Mehmood and Gurmeet Singh Bali (Inspector) conducted an enforcement drive in different areas of Poonch during which around 62 vehicles were checked. Special emphasis was laid on checking of Speed Limiting Devices (SLD) in passenger buses and school buses.
Eight passenger buses were found plying without SLD and they were fined under Motor Vehicles Act, while school buses were plying smoothly with SLDs installed in them.
ARTO informed that one permit has also been suspended for three months on request of traffic authorities as the vehicle was seen plying heavily overloaded and involved in several accidents.
