LONDON, June 19: “Little Mix” singer Perrie Edwards’ mother has denied her daughter was responsible for musician Zayn Malik’s departure from boy band One Direction.
Malik, 22, quit the group in March earlier this year and his pop star fiancee Edwards came under fire from fans, who blamed her for his exit.
His exit was announced shortly after the singer was accused of cheating on his 21-year-old fiancee while his band was on tour in Thailand, reported Contactmusic.
“It was his decision and nothing to do with Perrie. They’ve always been happy… Zayn’s one of the nicest boys I’ve ever met and I couldn’t imagine Perrie with anyone else.
“I feel like he’s already my son, they’ve been together since she was on The X Factor so he’s part of the family,” she said.
The pair began dating in 2012 and got engaged in 2013. (PTI)
