Persons facing threats denied security: Varinderjeet

JAMMU, June 4: Jammu and Kashmir, BJP, vice president, Varinderjeet Singh, has expressed grave concern over delaying tactics of the Security Wing of the J&K, Police in matters related to providing security to the persons who have got threats from terrorists and are at the risk of their lives.
In a handout, issued here, today Varinderjeet Singh, said that despite the incidents of attacks and killings of political leaders in J& K, the Government has not learnt any lesson. Still those who have threats to their lives and reported the same to the Security Wing, nothing has been done and they may be targeted any time.
Sharing his own case, the BJP leader said that he himself got threatening call, which was reported to the Security Wing. Although call was traced and the caller was identified as well but no action has been taken to grab the culprit. After conducting inquiry and verification, case for providing security was forwarded to the Department but even after more than one year, the matter has not been discussed and approved.
Singh said that being district incharge of Poonch, he has to visit the border areas there in connection with his political activities and most of the time, stays there for days together but despite facing threat he has not been provided security.
