JAMMU, Apr 3: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India distributed free water bowls to help keep community animals’ hydrated at Bahu Plaza, here today.
“PETA India is encouraging everyone to make clean drinking water available to the community dogs, cats, birds and other animals this summer”, said PETA India’s Ayushi Sharma while talking to reporters.

She stated that these animals endure so many hardships and they can all show them little kindness including by adopting animal companions from the street or a shelter, rather than buying them from breeders or pet shops.
“Across India, animals struggle to survive on streets. Many of them go hungry, are deliberately injured or killed, are hit by vehicles or are abused in other ways. Countless others end up in animal shelters because there are not enough food and homes for them all. Every time someone buys a dog or a cat from a breeder or a pet store, a homeless roaming the streets or waiting in an animal shelter loses a change at finding a home”, Sharma informed.
PETA India, whose motto reads, in parts, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any ways” also encourages families to keep their animals companions cool indoors during hot summer days and never leave them inside parked cars, where they can succumb to heat stroke within minutes, Ayushi Sharma added.
