Peter Medak to helm Theodore Herzl biopic

LOS ANGELES, Feb 14:  Filmmaker Peter Medak has been roped in to direct the biopic on political activist Theodore Herzl.
Titled “Herzl,” the movie will bring alive he life story of one of the key players in the creation of the state of Israel, reported Variety.
The movie will shoot on location in Vienna, Budapest, Istanbul, London, Paris and Jerusalem. The 78-year-old Hungarian-born helmer will direct from a script by Nicholas Kazan.
The film revolves around self-made political activist Theodor Herzl and his tumultuous family life with Viennese socialite Julie Naschauer. Herzl saw the solution to the “Jewish Question” in the creation of a new country and laid the groundwork for contemporary Israel.
The movie is inspired by Bernard Zissman’s book “Herzl’s Journey.” (PTI)
