Srinagar, Aug 20: The residents of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Uri today alleged that a filling station in the area is looting people by charging extra per litre of diesel while the authorities are acting as mute spectators.
Locals said that the owner of ‘Zum Zum Filling Station’ at Challa, Boniyar does not comply with the original rates and is resorting to hike in rates on its own and thereby looting people in broad daylight.
“The current rate of per litre diesel here is Rs 93.25 but the filling station is charging Rs 93.60 from people and does not update the rates,” the locals said.
They said that they have brought the issue to the notice of the concerned SDM and the revenue officials; however, as per the locals, no action has been taken against the erring management of the filling station in the area.
“It appears to be a small sum, but at the end of the day it turns out to be a big amount which the concerned filling station is minting from the public through illegal means,” the locals underlined.
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Baramulla Muhammad Ahsan Mir told Excelsior that he will take appropriate action in this regard while adding that the aggrieved locals must report the matter to his office.
