JAMMU, June 21: Legal Metrology Department today sealed a petrol pump and booked its owner for short delivery.
A joint team of officers of Legal Metrology and sales officers of Indian Oil Corporation led by Deputy Controller, Consumer Protection, Manoj Prabhakar conducted a joint inspection of petrol pumps at RS Pura, Kunjwani and Narwal area.
During the drive, 4 pumps were inspected to ascertain the correctness of sealing and delivery of the fuel dispensed to the consumers.
As one dispensing unit was found to be delivering less by 60 ml to the consumers against five litre calibrated check measure, it was sealed and its owner booked under the provisions of the Weights and Measures Law. The unit was fined for Rs 5000 on the spot and the delivery was made accurate in the interest of consumers.
