Petrol tanker catches fire

RAMBAN, Oct 27: A petrol Tanker en-route Srinagar caught fire at Battery Chasma area here today on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH).
Police sources informed that the oil tanker bearing registration number JK02BT-6267 carrying petrol consignment caught fire due to some short circuit.
They said that on seeing smoke coming out from the vehicle, the driver parked the tanker on the road and jumped out and informed police.
After receiving information a Police team from Police Station Ramban along with fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire.
Police sources said that due to fire, cabin and the tool box of the vehicle suffered damage but petrol kept in highly protected three chambers was saved as the fire tenders reached the spot in time to control the fire.
SSP Traffic NH Ramban, Rohit Baskotra said the fire was doused and traffic was restored on NH.
