PF Comm visits Kishanganga project, briefs employees

JAMMU, Apr15: Rizwan Uddin, Provident Fund Commissioner, J&K and Ladakh today visited Kishanganga Power Station, NHPC Limited, Bandipora.
The P.F Commissioner, addressed the Principal Employer and contractors along with representatives of contract workers on various Schemes framed under EPF & M P Act, 1952 in apropos the benefits of Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) and Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS).
It was further highlighted that after implementation of EPF and M P Act, 1952 in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh, contractual employees are entitled to Insurance Scheme titled Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976 to a maximum of Rs. 7 Lakhs (in the event of serving members). A minimum of Rs 2.5 Lakhs is paid to the dependent / nominee of deceased member if the employee has been a member for a continuous period of one year.
Insurance benefits vary according to length of service and the balance amount in the P F account of member. P F Commissioner, J&K and Ladakh emphasized upon the need to maintain as much balance in P F Account as the members can, to get maximum benefit under EDLI. He also elaborated the roles & responsibilities of Principal Employers and the contractors towards contract workers.
The P F Commissioner also discussed about the setting of goals. He involved participation of contractors in order to motivate them towards their self-interest. The nominee of deceased PF member Abdul Majed Tantray who was engaged through contractor Md. Sultan Tantray of NHPC, Kishanganga Power Station had been received a benefit of Rs.4.75 Lacs under the scheme.
