RAJOURI, Nov 14: The Research and Development Cell of Govt PG College, Rajouri organised International e-Workshop on kindness to mark `World Kindness Day’ as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava here the other day.
The day long workshop on the theme, ” Be kind whenever possible”, was organised under the patronage of the officiating Principal of the College, Prof Javed Mughal in which eminent scholars from five nations including India, Germany, France, South Africa and Argentina were resource persons.
Prof Javed appreciated the efforts of Research and Development Cell of the College to organise an international workshop on the unique topic, which has potential to meet the great challenges, heal the fractured communities and transform the world.
In her keynote address, Nirmala Mehendale, President of the World Kindness Movement, Switzerland briefed about the role and journey of kindness movement that took birth in Switzerland in 1997 and now have become a global movement having its presence in 30 countries.
The other resource persons from various professions and fields like peace building, Gandhian philosophy, environmental conservation, media, arts and design also brought forward stories and practical examples of kindness and wisdom from diverse sources including- OP Sharma Vidyarthi former PCCF J&K, Prof Mammo Muchie ( Consultant on UNESCO’s Higher Education and Research Forum, South Africa), Dr Christian Bartolf, President Gandhian Information Centre, Berlin Germany; Dr Stephen Walter a peace educator from France and Front Diana de la RuaEugenio former president of International Peace Research Association, Argentina; Dr Tangela Siva Prasad Reddy -journalist from Hyderabad and Dr Pooja Jain, Associate Dean -Academics, Shristi Manipal Institute of Design, Bengaluru, now in Canada.
Dr M Ashaq Malik, Director R&D Cell of the College and organising secretary moderated the proceedings whereas, Prof Suriya Gupta, Department of Computer Sciences provided the technical support for this workshop.
