Srinagar, Nov 24: The Post-Graduation students of Kashmir University as well as the Cluster University, Srinagar today demanded resumption of offline classes citing a volley of reasons that are impeding their process of learning through the online mode.
The students in their representation said that having attended the online classes in an earlier semester, “we are having a really bad experience with the same. There are multiple issues with online classes,” they said.
While putting forth the reasons, they said, poor connectivity and low internet speed are making the online classes unbearable along with other several reasons.
“There is no management of the timing, while as the sometimes classes are scheduled at the timings that are not feasible for us,” they said.
The students also expressed the privacy concerns associated with a certain application through which the classes are held. “There are privacy concerns with some apps, particularly the Zoom, along with the inability of addressing the doubts as the platform lacks face to face interaction,” the students said.
They said that to maintain the flow of education amid the Novel coronavirus, the Universities have focused on online mode of classwork and have given it due importance.
“However, the student community due to the mentioned reasons, have started boycotting the online mode of classwork; we are demanding the offline mode of classwork,” they said.
They argued that the public places such as parks restaurants and playgrounds have been thrown open for the general public, where people don’t even follow proper SOP’s. “We fail to understand, what is stopping the Government from opening the universities with compliance to the SOPs,” they asked.
The students, while appealing the LG Manoj Sinha and others to intervene in the matter said that they are suffering from mental trauma as they are unable to cope up with the pace of online classes.
