Pharma establishments barred from selling flood hit medicines

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: A team of officers of Drug and Food Control Organization (DFCO) and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) conducted surprise checks and raids  in Iqbal Park and Karan Nagar areas of Srinagar city amidst  complaints  that certain drug and food establishments are indulging in sale of flood hit medicines and food articles to consumers.
It was found that the establishments namely M/s Bindroo Brothers and M/s Angel  Pharmacy, both at opposite Iqbal Park, M/s Owais Medicate, , M/s Valley Medicate, M/s International Medicate  and M/s Friends Medicate at Karan Nagar  Srinagar were indulged in unethical trade practices  by displaying flood hit commodities for sale.
The establishments were forced to shut their operations forthwith till such time a satisfactory compliance report with  respect to their hygienic condition and good trade practices is furnished by Empowered Inspectorate staff.
The trade fraternity has been impressed upon to live up to the expectations of masses by taking all precautionary and preventive measures ensuring that such  acts of omission could not by committed and repeated  as well. The traders have been warned of strict administrative action if anyone is found indulging in such practices.
