JAMMU, Sept 17: Pharmacovigilance week was inaugurated today in the Department of Pharmacology at ASCOMS & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu by Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital.
On the occasion, various student activities were conducted and MBBS students of 2nd Prof were advised for rational prescribing and use of medicines. They were also advised to establish the purpose of using a particular medicine before prescribing it. The stress was laid on proper diagnosis of the disease followed by proper treatment.
Director Principal while speaking on the occasion described the activity as a very useful scientific activity for the reason that young doctors in making taught about proper prescribing behavior so that the patients who are going to be treated by them are treated in a very scientific manner.
Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Prof & HoD, Radiation Oncology, GMC, Jammu and Dr Vishal Tandon, Professor of Pharmacology, GMC, Jammu were the judges for poster making competition, essay competition and the animation competition for students. Both the senior doctors encouraged the students to adopt e-prescribing behavior so that prescribing errors could be minimizing.
Dr Archana Parihar, Professor of Pharmacology, ASCOMS & Hospital conducted the proceedings while as Dr Ajay Kumar, Professor of Pharmacology, ASCOMS & Hospital presented vote of thanks.
