PHD Chamber organizes workshop on ‘CSR & Social Entrepreneurship’

JAMMU, May 30: PHD Chamber organized a workshop on ‘CSR & Social Entrepreneurship’  here today.
The main purpose behind this workshop was to promote the concept of ‘CSR & Social Entrepreneurship’ in the State.
In his welcome address Rahul Sahai, senior executive member, J&K Committee, PHD Chamber said that the State needs more social awareness which should be spread to the grass- root level and more corporate bodies should come forward in taking Corporate Social Responsibility as a priority.
He asserted that Social entrepreneurs play a great role in bringing change in the society. They continuously innovate and learn and pursue newer opportunities in order to serve the mission of community development.
Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi explained the dynamics of CSR. He laid stress on skill development and capacity building of the youth of J&K. He asserted that industry should take care of the workers and adopt welfare provisions for them.
Prof  Sudhir K Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University,  enlightened about CSR and social entrepreneurship and asserted on the need for management understanding and commitment and involving staff  in planning and to create a structured CSR plan. To bring benefits, CSR should be integrated into the business strategy and requires continuous attention.
Jatinder Singh, Secretary, PHD Chamber, New Delhi highlighted the role and importance of a Social Entrepreneur in the socio-economic development of the country. He discussed about developing models for social entrepreneurs and business valuation from a “Triple Bottom Line” perspective.  He also discussed the Networks, Institutions and Research Centres that help in promotion of Social entrepreneurship.
