UDHAMPUR, July 17: A student of Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) committed suicide by hanging himself from ceiling fan hook at his house in village Sundrani in Tikri.
According to the police report, Vikram Jamwal (27), son of Govind Singh Jamwal, resident of Sundrani near Tikri, was found hanging from ceiling fan hook in his house under mysterious circumstances, this morning.
After the family members spotted him hanging and called the police, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Tikri, Sub Inspector Abdul Satar rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to District Hospital Udhampur for the postmortem.
According to the family members, Vikram was pursuing PhD from Punjab University and he had come home four days ago on holidays. Last evening he got a phone call from someone after which went to his room and this morning he was found hanging.
In this connection, a case under Section 174 CrPC has been registered at Police Station Rehambal for further investigation.
