PHDCCI Jammu delegation discusses GST concerns with new Commr State Taxes

JAMMU, Jan 9: Rahul Sahai, Chairman of PHDCCI Jammu Chapter, today met with Prediman Krishan Bhat, the newly appointed Commissioner of State Taxes (GST) in Jammu and Kashmir, and apprised the latter about various challenges faced by the dealers regarding GST.
Accompanying Sahai were Raj Dua, Co-Chair PHDCCI Jammu, Kuldeep Gupta, Chetanya Sharma, and Pursharth Sharma, Resident Executive of PHDCCI Jammu Chapter.
During his interaction with the new Commissioner State Taxes, Sahai underscored the critical issue of delayed GST reimbursement for existing industries, emphasizing its significance as a primary incentive. He urged timely disbursement and highlighted concerns faced by auto dealers, proposing a one-time window for e-Invoice submission to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRO).
Sahai also recommended establishing an advisory committee comprising prominent organizations to enhance collaboration between industries and the GST Department. Addressing the technical glitches with GSTR-1, he stressed the need for a swift resolution.
Commissioner PK Bhat patiently listened to PHDCCI Jammu’s delegation, acknowledging the relevance of their concerns.
Bhat committed to addressing these issues promptly, particularly focusing on ensuring timely SGST reimbursement. He explained different challenges but expressed his intent to urge the Government for a swift redressal of all the issues highlighted by PHDCCI Jammu delegation.
Regarding the nationwide technical issues with GSTR-1, Bhat assured that concerned authorities are working to resolve them within a day or two. He emphasized that PHDCCI should encourage dealers to leverage the government’s amnesty scheme, emphasizing it as the last opportunity for maximum benefits.
Bhat shared proactive measures, including reducing industry reimbursement inspections from 4 to 1 in the near future. He assured that the department is actively working on additional beneficial schemes for dealers.
Bhat reiterated the commitment to facilitating dealers and expressed openness to addressing any challenges they may encounter.
Closing the meeting, Bhat highlighted Chief SecretaryAtal Duloo’s commitment to holistic state development, particularly focusing on boosting micro-industry and tourism in the UT.
