PHDCCI meets Div Com, submits demands

JAMMU, May 22: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PHDCCI) today met Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma and submitted him a written representation demanding a world class Green Park in Bhagwati Nagar and Jammu Haat on the lines of Delhi Haat near AIIMS.
The delegation of PHDCCI was led by Kuldeep Gupta and Rakesh Wazir. PHDCCI mentioned that due to widening of Jammu Akhnoor road the walk ways and greenery along with Ranbir Canal is substantially reduced. The Chamber said that with an explosion in urban population of Jammu city in last 3 decades, it has become imperative that Jammu city should have a dedicated park and recreational area.
The members of PHDCCI highlighted that the Government has in its possession a land area of 300-400 kanals near Bhagwati Nagar where Government should develop a world class Green Park which should have facilities like children park, water bodies with musical fountains, area for yogas and camps, dedicated walking track.
It was also demanded to construct Jammu Haat on the lines of highly successful Delhi Haat near AIIMS Jammu. The Chamber said that Jammu Haat can be utilized to highlight the cuisine, culture, art and handicraft of Jammu Region. It was further highlighted that such a facility will be an asset to Jammu region and would be another attraction for Yatris to spend an extra day in Jammu, the benefits of which would percolate to both Government as well as all sectors of Jammu region.
The Chamber requested the Government to look into the feasibility of developing tourist cum Green park along with Jammu Haat at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Praising the efforts of PHDCCI, Divisional Commissioner assured that the matter shall be taken up consequently.
The meeting was also attended by Nandan Khuthiala, Vivek Bhardwaj and Aditya Vaid.
