PHE daily wagers hold protest demonstration

BHADERWAH, Oct 16: The daily wage workers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department held a strong protest  here today.
The protest programme was held  under the chairmanship of   district president of  union for Doda, Mohd Sajad Ganai. The agitating workers were demanding regularization of  their services. Scores of workers assembled in the premises of  PHE filter plant Gagal, Bhaderwah, and started protest. They gave  three- months ultimatum to the higher authorities to frame a proper policy for their regularization and threatened to stop the water supply to all the areas of  Doda district, if the demand was not addressed.
The protesters were also demanding timely and regular payment of their wages and enhancement in rate of their daily wage. They alleged that despite assurance by the concerned minister and senior officers, their demands have not been addressed. They said that many among them have been working in the department for the past 15-20 years but are still awaiting their regularisation.  They said that delaying attitude of the State Government has made their life horrible.
The protesters threatened that they would be forced to go for harsh measures if the Govt remained unmoved. They gave three months ultimatum to the minister concerned.
