JAMMU, June 12: A daily wager employee of PHE Department allegedly commited suicide during the intervening night of June 11 and 12 by jumping into the well of PHE Water Filter Plant near Tawi River in Panjtirthi area.
According to a police spokesman, the deceased has been identified as Shamsher Singh Slathia son of Bushan Singh Slathia, a resident of Panjirthi. He said that the deceased PHE employee was on night duty on the Water Filter Plant.
The spokesman said the matter came to light after midnight of June 11 when somebody called on 100 number and informed the police that a dead body is floating on the water of the well on PHE Water Filter Plant in Panjtirthi area.
He said on getting information police reached the spot, evicted the body from the well and shifted it to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. “Today, after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said, adding a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and inquest proceedings initiated under 174 CrPC.
