PHE employees demand release of 30 months wages

UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: Water Works PHE Employees Association Udhampur held a meeting of executive members of Udhampur and Reasi districts here under the chairmanship of Som Nath, senior vice president of the Association for Jammu province.
While addressing the meeting Som Nath issued an appeal to Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to the Governor of the State for release of pending wages of the workers for the past 30 months as the workers were facing starvation.
The executive members criticized the attitude of the Direction Office towards allotment of wages for CP workers and ITI workers in unfair manner and demanded that equal treatment should be given to all the workers at the time of release of funds for different divisions.
The other demands voiced in the meeting included Implementation of Minimum Wages Act; Immediate regularization of workers; Meeting shortage of staff to effectively man the on-going water supply schemes; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers; Payment to those engaged in lieu of land donation; Release of 6% DA installment to employees and workers from July 2015; and Enhancement in daily wage rate to Rs 150 to Rs 400.
It was also demanded for putting an end to the discrimination being meted out to the employees of Jammu province by way of very less emoluments to them as compared to their counterparts in Kashmir valley.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Rattan Singh, Suraj Parkash, Baldev Raj, Jagdish Raj, Shiv Lal, Makhan Chand, Sanjay Sharma, Dinesh Kesar, Rajinder Sharma, Som Raj Jandial, Prem Nath, Ved Parkash, Luxman Dass, Shambhu Dutt, Chunni Lal, Karan Singhh, Prabhu Dayal etc.
